Whether your interest is culture or countryside, hill walking or
heritage, climbing, cycling or candle making, then the County Borough
of Caerphilly has something to offer everyone.
The imposing majesty of Caerphilly Castle, the second largest in
Britain, dominates the town centre and the infamous leaning tower
'over leans' even Pisa. Llancaiach Fawr Manor is a fascinating 17th
Century civil war house which recreates life in the year 1645 -
visitors are invited to dress up in costume, try on armour or even
take a turn in the stocks!
For countryside and outdoor pursuits Sirhowy Valley Country Park
and Parc Cwm Darran offer a choice of walking and cycling, as well
as other organised activities and events.
The Ynys Hywel Centre, located within Sirhowy Valley Country Park,
is the ideal haven to stop for refreshments whilst enjoying the
countryside, as well as offering exquisite conference, function
and wedding facilities.
Cwmcarn Forest Drive is another multi-faceted site, housing a
spectacular 7-mile drive with BBQ and picnic spots, a lake, visitor
centre, a campsite plus guided/self-guided walks and other activities.
