Our Opinion

Yorkshire is indeed a land of diversity. The perfect backdrop for scenery and a wonderful mix for your ceremony.

Profile

Yorkshire is England’s largest and fascinating no matter what your interest or time to spare, offers a huge range of activities and attractions.

Yorkshire stretches across Northern England from its spectacular coastline in the East, across Moors and fertile valleys to the Dales in the West, and attracts millions of tourists who flock to see its traditional market towns, beautiful countryside and historic sites. The more adventurous can explore the demanding terrain of remote uplands, spectacular limestone and gritstone crags and the secrets of the limestone potholes or the drama of its coastline with narrow streeted villages clinging to its stunning cliffs.

Along the 45 miles of coastline there is more than the traditional resorts of Scarborough and Filey and Whitby with its Dracula and Captain Cook connections and spectacular ruined abbey.

The Harrogate District is a mixture of beautiful landscapes, flourishing towns, dales villages and heritage sites. The town of Harrogate, has a rich spa history, combined with parks, gardens and floral displays.

Close by is the medieval market town of Knaresborough famous for its 14th Century ruined castle, its maze of narrow streets and Mother Shiptons Cave. From Pateley Bridge to Masham, the towns and villages of Nidderdale provide the perfect base to explore the magnificent surrounding countryside.

Gay Scene

Yorkshire has many large cities like Sheffield, Leeds, Bradford, York and Hull and consequently it has a reasonably good scene. Hull and York are the most lacking but both have one nighters in some rather swish clubs.

A larger town or city such as York or Leeds will have a gay quarter which offers a warm welcome to Gay and Lesbian visitors and has gay pubs, clubs, saunas and entertainment.
