Nottinghamshire has a unique blend of traditional market towns and patchwork fields, combined with a beautiful city, becoming vibrant and lively by night. At the centre of the beautiful county lies Sherwood Forest, a place which has fascinated visitors since Victorian times, with its fields of bluebells and wildlife, and most famously, Major Oak, one of the oldest and largest oak tree's in England.

If you really want to escape away from the hustle and bustle of your every day routine, the Japanese Garden at the Pureland Meditation Centre is the ideal place; two acres of land have been transformed by Buddist monk Maitreya, and what was originally waste land has now been excavated into an oasis of calm, using stunning plants, ponds, bridges, and fish.

The nightlife of Nottinghamshire stems from Nottingham, with its grand & dominant buildings. The Theatre Royal, the Exchange Arcade and the Pitcher and Piano bar in the Lace Market are all great examples of what the city has to offer, along with its share of traditional pubs. Nottingham also has one of the best selections of shops in the County.

Gay Scene

Nottingham's gay scene is very much alive and kicking, with many gay friendly and owned cafes, pubs and bars. Some of the more preferred are The Peacock, The Broadway Café, and NG1.
